The Kothrud police have booked a couple for allegedly duping a real estate agent to the tune of Rs5 lakh on the pretext of giving good returns on investments.

The Kothrud police have booked a couple for allegedly duping a real estate agent to the tune of Rs5 lakh on the pretext of giving good returns on investments. A complaint in this regard has been registered by Amresh Madhukar Rao of Guru Ganeshnagar, Kothrud.

The couple, identified as Adwait Datar and Nilima Datar, residents of Alankar Sahnivas Society in Karvenagar, have been booked under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, Rao came in the contact with Datar through a common friend in September 2010 and Datar asked him to invest in equities, gold and silver. On the pretext of giving good returns on investments, Datar and his wife took Rs5 lakh from Rao.

Kerala man robbed of Rs1.30 lakh
The Bund Garden police have booked an unidentified person for allegedly robbing a Kerala-based businessman of Rs1.30 lakh on December 17 in Bund Garden area.

The victim, Rao Kurappan, has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Bund Garden police. According to the police, Kurappan, who has a fabrication business, used to set up generators and turbines at city-based firms. So, he frequently came to Pune from Kerala.

On December 12, Kurappan came to Pune for some work. After finishing his work on December 17, he left for Kerala in his silver colour Skoda. Later, he came to Bund Garden Road to book an air ticket. After booking the ticket, Kurappan got a call on his cellphone; as a result, he parked his car on roadside.

The police said, “While Kurappan was on the call, an unidentified person came up to him and told him that his money was lying on the road. While he went to collect the money, the suspect fled with a bag containing Rs1 lakh, a laptop and documents, totally valued at Rs1.30 lakh,” he said.
