The event will start on October 2 this year.

Hope for the Children Foundation (HFCF), a city-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), recently organised the first-ever meeting involving more than 50 NGOs to discuss how to celebrate the forthcoming Joy of Giving Week (JGW) in the city.

The event will start on October 2 this year. JGW founder and Give India member, Venkat Krishnan, gave a presentation to the NGOs’ representatives and spoke on JGW 2011 and the India Giving Challenge, an online giving event.

Recalling the events organised last year during JGW, the founder and managing trustee of HFCF, Caroline Audoir de Valter, presented guidelines to help NGOs create their own events for this year’s JGW. The meeting ended with a workshop by the NGOs.

The JGW is India’s largest philanthropic movement. Its aim is to inspire Indians across every state, city, region, class, community, religion and age to give back in whatever way they choose and to celebrate the giving.

Within two years, the event has grown to witness over 500 events across 70 cities and towns in India, engaging over 1 million Indians, raising more than Rs20 crore in donation money and materials, besides clocking millions of volunteer hours.
