Crucial closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of Anushree Kundra (30), the prime suspect in the Wanavdi attempt to murder case, buying petrol from a Wanavdi petrol station has made the police increase their efforts in nabbing her. The police traced her cellphone records to Mumbai, after which the set has been switched off.

DNA
(October 14 & 15) had quoted the Wanavdi police stating that Anushree had poured two litres of petrol on her boyfriend Nimishsinha Prasad (27) and his fiancee Juhi Prasad (26) in the wee hours of Thursday and set them ablaze in Nimishsinha’s Wanavdi apartment.

Anushree and Nimishsinha had an affair, but his parents did not approve of Kundra as she belonged to another community. Nimishsinha’s parents got him engaged to Juhi, who was from their community.

The police said that the trio met at Nimishsinha’s apartment on Wednesday evening and chatted till the wee hours, after which Anushree is supposed to have set the newly engaged couple ablaze. Juhi has suffered 98% burns while Prasad has sustained 10% burns, and they have been admitted to the Inamdar hospital.

The police told DNA that the CCTV footage showed Anushree, a divorcee, purchasing two litres of petrol from Kedari petrol station. She is said to have persuaded the station staff to give her fuel on the pretext that she had to urgently ferry her two children from home to someplace.
