Pune trio makes it to army’s Officers’ Training Academy

The three students had trained at the city-based Apex Careers, a centre training youth for a career in the Indian armed forces.

Three Pune students have been selected for short servce commission in the Indian army. Vaibhav Javalkar, Adwait Phadke and Abhinav Detha will report to the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, for military training in the first week of October 2011.

The three students had trained at the city-based Apex Careers, a centre training youth for a career in the Indian armed forces.

Vaibhav Javalkar, 23, stood 10th in all-India merit in the NCC special entry scheme for the short service commission. A resident of Vishrantwadi, Vaibhav has completed his masters in scientific computing from the University of Pune. His father, Pramod Javalkar, is a senior chargeman at 512 Army Base Workshop in Khadki.

Adwait Phadke, 23, stood 11th in the all-India merit list of mechanical engineering stream. His father, Jayant Phadke, is in the construction business.

Abhinav Detha, 23, a resident of Kothrud, did his bachelors of law (arts) from New Law College and stood 130th in the all-India merit list of the combined defence service examination. His father, Govind Detha, is additional superintendent of police with the Rajasthan police and is presently posted in Jaipur.
