Pune woman rescued after a night in Pavana river
Kalewadi resident Kishore Kumbhar allegedly pushed his wife Dhanashree, 19, off the bridge between Kalewadi and Chinchwad, into the Pavana river on Thursday night.
Kalewadi resident Kishore Kumbhar allegedly pushed his wife Dhanashree, 19, off the bridge between Kalewadi and Chinchwad, into the Pavana river on Thursday night. The woman, who did not how to swim, survived the attempt by spending the entire night in the river. She was rescued by local people on Saturday morning.
The victim has lodged a complaint with the Sangvi police alleging that her husband Kishore who doubted her character wanted to get rid of her. He called her near MM School in Kalewadi under the pretext of giving her a surprise.
When she closed her eyes to accept the gift, the husband pushed her from the bridge that is about 8-10 metres high. The police have arrested Kumbhar under section 307 of Indian Penal Code. He has been remanded in police custody till Tuesday. Police sub-inspector AT Waghmare is probing the case.
