The police on Thursday recorded the statement of Vanlalruat Kima who had alleged in his blog that a police officer had passed racist comments at him and his group while they were having tea at a stall near Malabar Hill police station.
Kima, 32, a mobile game developer, told the police that he had no intention of registering a complaint against the officer but he only tried to let his seniors know about his racist behaviour. The officer involved in the case has apologized to Kima, said the police. No case has been registered.
Kima, a resident of Mizoram, has been staying in the city for the past five years and has mentioned in his blog that he had respect for the Mumbai police and had never expected them to behave like this.
Kima has been blogging a lot about the problems faced by the people from North East in different parts of the country. “I was deeply hurt by the incident and decided to vent it out on my blog,” Kima wrote in his blog. Soon after, joint commissioner of police (law and order) Sadanand Date and deputy commissioner of police (zone 2), under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, assured Kima of action against the cop.
