Train services on the Central Railway line were running ten to fifteen minutes late on Wednesday evening after ND Panda, the motorman of a CST-Thane local alerted the authorities of a rail fracture on the slow line between CST and Masjid. Work on repairing the line took 24 minutes between 6:10pm and 6:34pm and during this period trains had to be diverted to the fast line. A Thane and a Kalyan bound local was stranded behind the train being Panda was operating, said officials.Officials said the cascading effect would keep trains late right through the evening rush hours.
