The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the monsoon has returned to its normal state and heavy showers are expected within the next 48 hours.

If meteorologists are to be believed then the monsoon will be back in action this month.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that the monsoon has returned to its normal state and heavy showers are expected within the next 48 hours.

“The monsoon cycle has revived itself. Favourable weather conditions can be seen in the atmosphere, which can bring the monsoon to its normal position,” said VK Rajeev, director, IMD.
Meanwhile consistent rainfall was witnessed across the city on Wednesday.

Colaba saw 10.8mm of rains while Santa Cruz received 21.4mm.On an average just 22% of normal showers were witnessed in the month of June with a total rainfall of 1225.7mm.
IMD officials stated that the weather conditions were not apt to support the monsoon last month.

This month, the officials explained that the rain clouds had gathered over the entire peninsula and coastal belt.

However, of the six lakes that supply water to the city, only Modak Sagar lake saw a rise in the water level with a rise of just 0.11m.

“Around 70% of the rain is recorded in July and August. What we see in June there is only sporadic rainfall. So there is no reason
to worry,” said Dinesh M Gondalia, deputy municipal commissioner (special engineering).
