The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has planned rallies to be addressed by its chief Mohan Bhagwat in 40 major cities of the country as a part of its campaign to connect with the people. One such rally will be held in Mumbai on September 20.

Bhagwat has already kicked off the campaign through a rally in the RSS headquarters in Nagpur a few days ago. During his Mumbai visit, Bhagwat is expected to meet the city’s who’s who and interact with the media before the rally.

“In RSS, the sarsanghchalak rarely holds public rally,” a source said. “Normally, the RSS chief addresses the annual Dussera rally at Nagpur. He addresses the gathering of workers and officials but holding a public rally and interaction with the media is a rare thing in the organisation.”

Since he took over the charge as chief of RSS in March, Bhagwat is trying to mould the organinsation to cope with the modern age. The public rallies is a part of his attempt to reach the RSS ideology to the people in a way convenient to them.
