Two days after three unknown assailants opened fire at producer Ali Morani's residence in Juhu at the behest of gangster Ravi Pujari, the police has said that Pujari had called actor Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies on Sunday, and passed a message to the actor.
What was Pujari's message to SRK?
Pujari told a staffer at the Red Chillies office to tell Shah Rukh to stay away from Ali Morani and his events as he (Morani) is linked to other underworld dons, the police said.
What security measures have the police taken?
"We received a call from the actor's office about the threat call. We have enhanced security outside his house, and beefed up security at Morani's house as well," said additional commissioner of police (West Region) Milind Bharambe.
"We have spread our network and will be rounding up people from around the state for questioning to trace the shooters. The CCTV footage outside Morani's house is not too clear."
What exactly happened outside Morani's house?
On Saturday around 10.30pm, three people on a bike zipped past Morani's residence Shagun on 9th Road in Juhu and fired five bullets. The bike that came from Juhu circle direction sped towards Juhu police station area, said an officer, adding that the bullets hit a tree trunk, a glass pane of the building, and the bonnet of a BMW car parked inside the building.
And where was the producer?
Morani had left for Dubai around 10pm and nobody was home when the incident happened. Hence, there were no injuries. The two security guards who were on duty at that time too escaped unhurt, but did not inform the police immediately. A case was registered the next day (Sunday) at Juhu police station.
Why did Pujari come under suspicion?
Police sources said Morani has been continuously getting threat calls from the gangster, and that he had filed a complaint in this regard with the anti-extortion cell in July. That's why they suspect Pujari to be behind the firing, sources added.
