Road safety rally tomorrow in Pune

The rally will be flagged off by actress Sonalee Kulkarni at Bhakti Shakti Park in Nigdi at 7:30 am and end at Madanlal Dhingre ground.

The Lokmanya Hospital in association with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, city traffic police, Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pimpri, and Shramik Patrakar Sangh will hold a rally on road safety awareness on Friday.

The rally will  be flagged off by actress Sonalee Kulkarni at Bhakti Shakti Park in Nigdi at 7:30 am and end at Madanlal Dhingre ground. 

“We are inviting everybody from different walks of life to participate and help spread awareness about issues related to road safety”, said Dr Narendra Vaidya, trustee, Lokmanya Group of Hospitals.

All stakeholders, including doctors, advocates, police officers will participate. About 3,000 students from Pimpri- Chinchwad area will also take part. About 200 of them would be wearing skates and helmets.

The main attraction will be a live demonstration on how accidents occur and the consequences that the victim and his family have to go through. A car trailer carrying a crash car and a wrecked two-wheeler will also be driven in the rally.

Awareness about wearing seat belts, not using cellphones while driving, driver’s negligence, high velocity driving and drunken driver will be highlighted.

A demo on how to give first aid will be given by Lokmanya Hospital doctors. Fire brigades will also showcase what one needs to do in emergency fire situations.
