In an attempt to propagate safe driving and encourage public transport, Rotary Club of Pune Metro has come up with short films to educate and create awareness about road safety in Pune.
The club is planning to make six animation films of one minute each and two have been completed. Madhavi Mehendaley, president of Rotary Club of Pune Metro, said, “A tragic incident, in which my close friend lost his son, prompted me to create awareness about road safety and we decided to make animation films to reach out to the public for creating awareness.’’
Mehendaley added, “We have created a character called Golu who is the mascot of our awareness programme and he plays the lead in these animation films. With some incidents, Golu gives lessons on road safety. We have completed two short films and remaining four films will be completed soon.’’
According to Mehendaley, these films will be shown in multiplexes, TV channels, bus terminals, airports and other public areas. The inauguration of these films will take place at City Pride R- Deccan mall on March 1.
