RPF of Central Railway to act against errant auto-drivers AT Kurla LTT

The RPF officials said that they decided to launch a crackdown after passengers complained about being fleeced by them at LTT.

Meanwhile the RPF of Central Railway have for the first time in recent years, started taking action against errant auto and taxi drivers at Kurla LTT. They are levying fine under Section 159 of Railway Act, 1989 for which drive started on February 9. "Until now 53 drivers have been fined under this section. We are holding discussions with the Traffic Police to find a solution which also includes having prepaid auto/taxi stands," said KK Ashraf, senior divisional security commissioner (Mumbai), Central Railway.

These drivers were found trespassing on railway premises and despite told to leave; they refused the rail officials and so were booked. The RPF officials said that they decided to launch a crackdown after passengers complained about being fleeced by them at LTT. Currently the prepaid taxi stand is empty.
