The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) women and child welfare department on Thursday passed a resolution of providing Rs10,000 as fixed deposit to couples who adopt a girl child.
As per the proposal, the amount would be in the girl's name and the PCMC would handover the entire amount once she becomes an adult.
For availing of the scheme, the couple has to reside in Pimpri-Chinchwad area for at least three years. While applying for the scheme, citizens should have all legal documents about the adoption of girl child and after the documents are verified by the civic staff, the amount would be deposited in the girl's name. The couple also has to submit residential proof.
Interestingly, last month the PCMC women and child welfare department had approved a resolution to give Rs10,000 as grant to women who have undergone vasectomy after having given birth to two girls. In that case, the PCMC will deposit Rs10,000 in the name of the second girl child in a nationalised bank. The girl child will get the money when she becomes an adult.
Earlier, the committee also approved a resolution to provide financial assistance of Rs1,000 per month to widows. The women who want to get this benefit should be residing in Pimpri-Chinchwad area and must fulfill the conditions applicable for the state government's Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana.
If the applicant's name figures in the eligible list of women under the scheme then she will have to submit the eligibility number and its proof. She should also submit proof that she is residing in PCMC limits for more than three years for which ration card, property tax receipt, parent's identity cards and other documents will be considered as proof. The woman should have an account in a nationalised or scheduled bank as the grants will be given through electronic clearing system.
