The main accused in the Malegaon blast case, Sadhvi Pragya Singh, was admitted to Civil hospital in Nashik late Saturday evening after she had refused solid food and medication for days. She finally broke her fast after a legal committee visited her and registered her statement.
Pragya Singh was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning on court orders for a check-up and was taken back. But by late evening she was admitted to hospital. She then refused to take her medication. The Sakarwada police later registered a case of attempt to commit suicide against her. Jail authorities confirmed that she had been refusing food for a few days and was only drinking water.
She was brought to Civil hospital as her condition worsened, her lawyer Adv Walzade stated.
After repeated attempts to convince her failed, the Civil surgeon informed jail authorities who in turn informed the police. “She was admitted to the ICU but refused medication,” said Dr Shinge, surgeon.
