The Supreme Court rejected a PIL filed by the Save Worli Seaface against the construction of the Bandra-Worli Sealink.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a PIL filed by the Save Worli Seaface, a city-based organisation against the construction of the Bandra-Worli Sealink, said the Director, Information and Public Relations (DGIPR) here on Wednesday.

According to a release, the information has come from Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra PWD Minister. The PIL was earlier rejected by Bombay HC on July 7 after which the petitioners filed a special leave petition in the apex court. Deshmukh has welcomed the decision, saying the proposed Bandra-Worli Sea Link will be a landmark in elevating Mumbai to the standard of an international metropolis.

The sealink is aimed at reducing traffic on the Mahim causeway that serves as the only link connecting the city with suburbs. Mahim causeway has about 1,40,000 vehicles plying to and from everyday.
