Temporary pickets have been set up near Chabad House in Koregaon Park.

Within hours after an explosion took place in Delhi, the Pune police said they have stepped up security in the city although they have not received any fresh alert from any of the agencies. Around 1,000 Israeli nationals are presently in the city.

Deputy commissioner of police (special branch) Sanjay Jadhav said, “We have beefed up security in all areas in the city. We didn’t get any alert from the agencies,’’ he said.

According to Jadhav, the police have increased security at the Ohel David Synagogue (Lal Deval) on Ambedkar Road and the Osho International Meditation Resort in Koregaon Park.

The police said since it was anniversary of the German Bakery bomb blast, security had been beefed up in and around the Chabad House in Koregaon Park. They said temporary pickets have been set up near Chabad House and armed police personnel are keeping a round-the-clock vigil.

Besides, the police said, metal detectors have been installed at the main entrance of the Chabad House.
