Kannada actress Maria Susayraj, who has been arrested in the Neeraj Grover murder case, told the police on Saturday that she does not want to face Emile Jerome Matthew, the other accused, as seeing him gives her “sleepless nights”. According to the crime branch officials, she requested them to interrogate her separately.

“I don’t want to see Matthew’s face,” Susayraj, who is lodged in the crime branch lock-up in Bandra, told the interrogating officers.

Susayraj and Matthew, a naval officer from Kochi, were arrested for allegedly murdering Grover, a creative head in a television production house. Grover was missing since May 7.

“Susayraj has been terrified after the brutal murder of Grover, and whenever she sees Matthew, she is petrified. She could not forget the sight of the pieces of Grover’s body lying in a pool of blood in her Malad apartment,” said a crime branch official.
Grover was allegedly stabbed and killed when Matthew, Susayraj’s boyfriend, found him in her Dheeraj Enclave flat. Later, his body was cut into pieces, taken to Manor, and burnt.

The officer said that Susayraj had called in two of her film fraternity friends from Andheri to stay with her after Matthew left for Kochi. “Her friends had no knowledge about the crime, as they came for her company. She told them that she was feeling lonely,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, Matthew, who according to the crime branch officials, showed arrogance during interrogation, has suddenly lost his aggression. “Earlier, Matthew had yelled at the top of his voice and acted egoistically. However, he has suddenly mellowed down during the past two days of routine interrogations,” said the officer.

Although Matthew’s parents have arrived in the city, nobody will be allowed to meet him till May 29, according to the police.
