A day before the Mayor elections in BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) here, Shiv Sena corporator Chhaya Bhanji has gone missing.
A missing person complaint was today lodged by Chhaya's son Puneet, who in his complaint stated that his mother, representing Versova area, had not returned home since yesterday evening, police said.
"According to Puneet, she (Chaya) left her home in Versova village at around 6pm yesterday, leaving her vehicle behind. She was also to attend a wedding ceremony in the same locality. Since she did not return home, her son lodged missing person complaint at 3am," S Nalawade, senior inspector of Versova police station, told PTI.
Chhaya's mobile was also switched off, he said.
Since Puneet did not suspect kidnapping, a missing person complaint was lodged, Nalawade said.
The total strength of the Sena-BJP combine in the BMC is 115, which includes two ABS corporators and three Independents. The Congress-led Opposition has 110 seats.
