It was pin drop silence in the auditorium when Congress MP Shashi Tharoor eloquently shared memories of his Alma Mater in the platinum jubilee event of Campion school. Tharoor not just remembered his school days but also urged the current Campion students to be curious and creative.
He expressed his happiness at meeting present and past students of the school including some of his classmates. He said that when he joined the school it was the 20th anniversary of the school. He said, "I have some very fond memories of school. I join the school in 1969 when the principal of the school was Fr F Ribot."
Remembering some of his teachers, Tharoor narrated his experience with one of his class III teacher. He said, "It was an end of a session incident of class work. She summoned all the children to handover the class exercise books.
Having 35-40 students in each class many boys were trying to reach to our teacher's desk to submit our class work books, I being a problem solver from very early age decided the shortest way and threw the exercise book over the heads of all the students. I expected applause as the book landed on top of the pile. Instead she left from her seat furiously and called me Junglee."
Tharoor added that his father was the one who started Parents Teachers Association in the school and also presided it. He mentioned how Campion school debates helped him become a good speaker.
