The Bombay High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail application filed by former media honcho Peter Mukerjea, arrested by the CBI in November 2015 for the murder of Sheena Bora, his wife Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship.
The court is yet to pass a detailed order on the rejection of the application. Mukerjea had filed for bail twice before the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court and it was rejected on both occasions. Peter is accused of allegedly entering into a conspiracy with his wife Indrani Mukerjea, who along with her ex- husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamwar Rai is accused of plotting Sheena's murder and disposing of her body.
Peter, in his application filed before the Bombay High court, had claimed that he had no hatred towards Sheena, and that he was fooled by Indrani and kept in the dark. Rather, he objected to their relationship because they were living together without getting married.
The application also said that the confessional statement of Shyamwar Rai exonerated Peter completely. "Peter was fooled by Indrani, till 2013, that Sheena was alive and was in some foreign country. Peter had no clue. He was a henpecked husband who just agreed to what his wife said," the defence advocate for Peter had maintained. However, the CBI had argued that Peter was also part of the conspiracy to murder Sheena and that he too was against Sheena's relation with Rahul.
