Residents of Pestom Sagar and surrounding areas are hoping to look forward to a noise-free locality after a meeting with Tilak Nagar police on Saturday.

Harrowed by constant noise emerging from over 25 automobile workshops in the area, residents knocked on the doors of the local police. “Cars in damaged condition would come and they would be repaired. This would happen by constant hammering and that created a lot of noise in the otherwise secluded area,” said V Sangole, a resident of Pestom Sagar.

On Saturday, police inspector S Kulkarni presided over a meeting attended by 42 senior citizens in the Nana Nani Park. Residents said Kulkarni assured them that notices would be sent to 12 garages identified by residents for not following noise pollution norms.
