Six Mumbai schools rated among best 10 institutions in India

Survey reveals Cathedral and John Connon School at Fort is the second best school in India.

Six of the city’s schools have been rated among the best ten institutions of child education in a country-wide survey. Cathedral and John Connon School, Fort, is the second best school in India, the survey states.

While Delhi’s Shri Ram School replaced Mumbai’s Cathedral & John Connon School to be ranked number one in the country, many city schools dominated the list. Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, bagged the eighth position, while Campion School, Fort, and Bombay Scottish School shared the ninth ranking in the survey.

Director and Principal Revathi Srinivasan said, "Singhania School is at the forefront of thought leadership in the academic world. We seek to provide an inclusive, value-based and well-rounded education to our students. This award is yet another affirmation of concerted efforts.''

With high-end infrastructure, foreign curriculum and latest classroom technologies, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, in Bandra Kurla Complex and Ecole Mondiale in Juhu, were ranked fourth and seventh respectively, as the best international schools in the country.

Over 2,000 parents, principals, teachers and educationists voted their preference from 404 best known schools in 16 cities in the EducationWorld-C fore Schools Survey 2011.

The poll asked respondents to vote among 404 schools in three categories – day, boarding and international schools. Parameters laid out were faculty, individual attention to students, academic reputation, quality of co-curricular and sports education, teacher-student ratio, discipline and life skills education, infrastructure, value for money, leadership and management quality, parental involvement, quality of alumni and students and disabled friendliness.

Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) has been ranked number one on both Academic Reputation and Individual Attention to Students. Also, they bagged the second position for Co-curricular Education and also for Teacher Welfare & Development.

On Competence of Faculty, Parental Involvement, DAIS was ranked third on Community Service. “Our focus is on all-round development of children and, therefore, all our resources and efforts are directed towards achieving this over-arching goal. It reflects our steadfast belief that every child is important,’’ said a DAIS spokesperson.
