The city-based Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) has launched special degree courses for policemen in the state.
The courses - BA (Police Administration) and MBA (Public Policy and Management) - will be offered at subsidised fees to policemen in the ranks of constable to deputy superintendent of police (DySP).
Talking to newspersons today, YCMOU vice-chancellor R Krishna Kumar, Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA) director Sanjay Barve and deputy director Nikhil Gupta said the BA course is for constable to assistant police Inspector level.
The MBA course is for police sub-inspector to (DySP) level officers, they said. The courses will be conducted jointly by MPA, police and YCMOU.
The aim behind starting these courses is to bring positive changes among the police force and make the personnel efficient, they said.
Subjects like human rights, social studies, economic, information and technology and psychology have been included in BA degree, while management and organisation behaviour and HRD management will form part of the MBA syllabus, Kumar and Barve added.
