The five hundred residents of Patel Palace, sector 8, Mansarovar, are facing tremendous problems due to the flow of dirty drain water. The open space near the society has water supply tanks that keep flowing, due to which water gets collected at one place forming a pond. Needless to say, this leads to stagnation and therefore to the breeding of mosquitoes and various insects.
Society members have been facing this problem since more than a year. A society member Manoj Deshpande, claimed, “After complaining several times, we got a response from Cidco asking us to bring our builder along with the documents. We even went to the Grampanchayat , but the problem lingered.”
He added, “The open space near the water supply tank is filled with garbage and debris, because of which we cannot keep our windows open, as they face the filthy side.”
A resident, V Shivraman, said, “We have a water purification tank near our residence and a lot of waste water gets drained into a dirty drain from this place. This draining place is not properly covered and so, it leads to a lot of mosquito breeding. Also, a lot of bad odour and other insect problems are persistent.” He added, “During nights, we cannot keep the windows open for fresh air and we have to use artificial insect repellents to keep away from this problem.”
Umesh Gaikwad, another resident said, “There are four tanks to collect rain water, out of which, two have been used and the other two remain as they are. The water-filled tanks should be emptied so that water does not flow from them. We even get disturbed by the constant noise of water flowing out from the tank.”
Mohan Ninawe, the public relation officer, said, “The residents should go to the administrator first.
I will also look at the issue.”
