Bringing back the innocence and laughter of your childhood days, India will play host to its first ever International Circus Festival. To the delight of Mumbaikars, the selected venue is Bandra Reclamation Grounds in Mumbai.
The event will begin from November 5 and continue till January 2, 2011. Rambo Circus will pitch its grand tent for 61 days of the event, which will see talents from USA, Argentina, Nepal, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ethiopia.
April 17 has been selected as the World Circus Day by the International Federation of Circus. While Europe has formally recognised Circus as a part of its culture, this festival seeks to integrate it as part of the Indian culture.
The event will cater to all age groups. The highlights would be acrobats, double silk acrobats, ring acrobats, cycling, and daredevil stunts. The event will feature 150 experienced artistes, six clowns, and a large posse of animals.
“The artistes have worked very hard to put together a breathtaking show for around two-and-a-half hours. The event’s success will be in delighting the audience,” says Sujit Dilip, one of the organisers of Rambo Circus in India.
Children below the age of six will be permitted free of cost. There will be shows at 1.30pm, 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at Rs150, Rs350 and Rs550. There will be a seating capacity of around 3,000.
