A 27-year-old man lost his life and his brother was critically injured following a trivial altercation with a habitual offender in Malwani. The deceased has been identified as Mohsin Shaikh and his injured brother, Junaid, 22. Three people have been arrested by the Malwani police.

On Wednesday around 3am, Junaid was walking towards his home in New Collector Compound, Malwani. He was accompanied by his cousin, Mohammed Hussain.

They spotted a habitual offender Imtiaz Memon, drinking in one of the bylanes. A police officer from the Malwani police said, “As he was known for creating trouble in the neighbourhood, Junaid started inquiring about Memon. As a result, the two men got into an argument, which turned ugly.”

Memon allegedly hit Junaid with a beer bottle. Seeing this, Hussain went to call Mohsin from the house. At the same time, Memon ran into his house and got a knife.

As soon as Mohsin reached the spot to help his brother, Memon took out his knife and stabbed Mohsin in his thigh and Junaid in the abdomen. “Memon’s wife, Samina and sister, Shabnam had by then come out of their house and accompanied the accused to attack the brothers,” said a police officer.

Following this, Memon and his family fled the spot. Both the brothers were rushed to a nearby hospital. Mohsin was declared dead on arrival, his brother is critically injured and is undergoing treatment in the ICU.

All three accused have been arrested on charges of murder and assault. According to the police, Memon has several criminal cases registered against him and is a nuisance in the area.
