A bachelor of science (BSc) student, Sanket Shashikant Ingale (19), was stabbed to death by six youths on Monday night in front of Gauri Shankar building in Akurdi. Ingale was from Solapur and lived in a private room.

The police have arrested Kiran Kandhare and Arvind Kamble, while Ajay Kalbhor, Sonya alias Vivek Kalbhor, Sumit Jagtap and Amol Sonawane are at large.

The police said Ingale and the suspects were once friends and studied in a common room in Akurdi. Two months ago, Ingale had a dispute with Kamble and Kandhare. On Monday, Ingale and Kamble had an exchange of angry words.

Senior inspector, Nandkumar Bhosalepatil of Nigdi police station told DNA, “On Sunday night, Kandhare told Ingale not to come to the room for study. On Monday night, Ingale again came to the room and after a dispute, Kandhare stabbed Ingale in the stomach with a weapon and killed him.”
