The GoAir passengers were let off after a stiff warning from the cops
Two passengers on GoAir Flight 153 have been taken to task for misbehaving whilst on board the plane.
This incident comes just two days after Dheeraj Malhotra was arrested for opening the emergency exit door of an Air Deccan flight, causing the airline a $20,000 loss and GoAir passengers travelling from Bangalore to Mumbai caused a ruckus when their flight was diverted to Mumbai. Security was called in to control the situation.
A non-cognizable offence has been registered against Vishal Kashyap, 26, and Shankar Ganesh, 24, on Friday for using their cellphones on board GoAir Flight 153 from Delhi to Mumbai.
“These two were using cell phones while the plane was taxiing down the runway while preparing for take-off on Thursday evening. The crew requested them to switch off their cell phones. However, their repeated requests were ignored, and the duo started abusing the crew,” said a GoAir spokesperson.
To make matters worse, when the flight captain intervened, he too was abused. “Since the mobile phone signals can hamper flight operation, the captain informed the ATC (Air Traffic Control) in Mumbai. When the plane landed in Mumbai, a CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) official and the airport manager took charge, and according to procedures and took the passengers to the police station,” added the spokesperson.
Sources at the police station said, “After the flight landed at 22:35 on Thursday, the passengers were brought here and a NC was filed against them by Shakir Battliwala, manager, GoAir.The passengers were let off after the warning.”
