Tata Power gets green award

International environmental body Greentech Foundation has awarded Tata Power with ‘Gold’ for its Trombay Thermal Power Station in the thermal power category at the 10th Annual Greentech Safety Award 2011.

International environmental body Greentech Foundation has awarded Tata Power with ‘Gold’ for its Trombay Thermal Power Station in the thermal power category at the 10th Annual Greentech Safety Award 2011.

The award reiterates the stringent safety procedures followed by the 55-year-old thermal power generating station in Mumbai. Trombay Thermal Power Station has been generating uninterrupted power for the city and is also recognised as one of the best performing stations in the country. It has many firsts to its credit including the commissioning of India’s first 150mw and 500mw units in India.

Anil Sardana, managing director of Tata Power, said, “We are glad to receive this prestigious award and it is our endeavor to achieve world class safety standards at all our locations..”

The station has not only been recognised for its safety practices, but also for steps taken to reach  stakeholders and nearby communities with safety and health awareness campaigns.
