Crime Branch loses two of its top encounter specialists to Amravati and Buldhana
State director general of police (DGP) PS Pasricha on Friday transferred 10 police officials. The decision was taken following an order by the Bombay High Court to transfer officials by Friday so that the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) could freely investigate the alleged murder of 2002 Ghatkopar blast accused Khwaja Yunus, who vanished while in police custody.
Following the stern directive, Pasricha transferred encounter specialists Pradip Sharma to Amravati and Arun Borude to Buldhana Both have always been in the city.
Others shunted out of Mumbai include inspector Dinkar Mohite, to Nagpur. Inspectors Gore and Thorat have been transferred to Ratnagiri and Nandurbar, respectively. Police inspector Limbaji Yadav has been sent to Hingoli.
Inspector Prakash Patil has been sent to Nanded while inspector Mahajan has been sent to Nashik. Constables Narhari Birmule and Lohar, have been sent to Raigad and Nanded respectively.
Pasricha said that the transfers were in accordance with the court’s order. Regarding the controversy about the chargesheet, he said that he had not received any chargesheet. “The only correspondence I have received from the CID regarding this case is a letter stating that they do not have a legal advisor,” he said.
