The Thai Curry Combo in a Bento Box

Do the Thai lunches served by Oh Cha - Kitchen & Bar, Lower Parel make the cut? We find out…

Lunch boxes are as essential to Mumbaikars as water is to fish. Whether we prefer to bring homemade food to work or opt for a lunch box service, the importance of a full meal cannot be underestimated.
Oh Cha - Kitchen & Bar at Lower Parel is one of the newer entrants in the lunch box category. Their Thai lunch boxes offer a taste of the Oriental cuisine packed with exotic ingredients. But did they make the cut?

We were sent two lunch boxes (one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian) in the Japanese Bento style. Both lunches were nestled in boxes made of hardened plastic and secured neatly. The overall appearance was one of a premium lunch box.

Taste report
While the vegetarian lunch included xxxx, the non-vegetarian one offered xxxxx. The common elements between the two were: salad and side dish. The salad was made with fresh ingredients and infused with a lot of flavour but the acidity was a tad too high for our taste.
The main course, which included Thai green curry and rice for the vegetarian box and Thai red curry with chicken and rice for the non-vegetarian one saw us frowning over the latter. The chicken was found to be rubbery, even though it had decent flavours. The spiced potato starter was probably the best thing on the plate.

Overall verdict
In terms of quantity, there was enough to satiate the hunger of an adult but quality-wise, it left a lot to be desired.Oh Cha - Kitchen & Bar can scale the peaks of culinary excellence if they focus more on the quality of their food. Our verdict is that they are somewhere in the middle when it comes to food.
