Thanekars can expect relief from traffic congestion in Kopri area as the TMC has decided to build an elevated bridge in Thane east under the SATIS scheme. The civic body have invited tenders for the same.
For years the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) have been trying to find answers to the traffic problem in Kopri area in Thane east.
During peak hours there is heavy traffic jam on the Kopri bridge which later joins the highway. But now TMC has zeroed in on a solution in the form of a 2.2 km (kilometer) long road which joins the eastern express highway in Thane. This elevated road will be used by public transport like TMT (Thane municipal transport) buses, Thane-Vasai, Borivli buses, etc. This leaves the current road empty for other vehicles.
