Last week, TMC had announced its ambitious ‘paint the wall’ campaign appealing to Thanekars to come forward and beautify the lake city with paintings. Swatva group of Thane has taken up beautification of the 5,000 square feet or 200 meter wall at Cadbury service road, Thane. Since Monday evening, the artists and citizens have been gathering at the service road to paint the walls.

“People start coming here from 4.30 pm onwards, and then we work till 10 pm. Office goers join us later,” says senior artist Chandrakant Sonawane from Thane, and a member of the group.

Swatva group was formed five to six years ago to bring artists and amateurs together. It has senior artists, junior artists, doctors, architects, advocates and others interested in art as its members. The group organises events like dance competitions, plays, cycling and other art related activities.
