The case of struggling Delhi-based film producer Karan Kakkad’s kidnapping just got even more intriguing. After details emerged recently that Bollywood starlet Nupur Mehta may have had a hand in match-fixing during last year’s cricket World Cup, crime and glamour seem to have come together again. Model Simran Sood, who was arrested by the Amboli police for Kakkad’s kidnapping, often socialised with A-list actors and international cricketers. Pictures in the possession of police officials prove this fact.
“Our investigations are on and we are trying to find out how Simran was in touch with so many Bollywood actors and cricketers since she is just a struggling model,” said an officer from the Amboli police station.
Sood, whose three associates are already under arrest for the murder of senior citizen Arun Kumar Tikku, has also named another model Rozlyn Khan. According to Sood, it is Khan that knew Kakkad’s whereabouts. Sood told police officials that she has didn’t know where Kakkad is and that Khan may know as they were in a relationship for the last few months. Police on Saturday called Khan to the Amboli police station for questioning and let her leave after recording a statement.
“Rozlyn and Kakkad were just casual friends and they exchanged a few messages which we showed the police. The messages didn’t show that the duo was going around. That’s why she was let go of after giving a statement,” said Rizwan Siddiqui, Khan’s lawyer.
According to the police, Kakkad was struggling to make his mark in the film industry and he had spoken to his real estate agent brother Aneesh Kakkad in Delhi on March 5, saying that he was going to meet Sood and would soon produce a movie.
