Defines Hazare as a man of integrity, championing the right cause.

The Bishop of Pune, Rt Rev Thomas Dabre, has come out in support of the anti-corruption crusader, Anna Hazare.

“Anna is the most important person on the national scene right now.

International attention is also focused on him,” the Bishop said in an interview to DNA on Thursday.

Explaining why he supported Hazare, the Bishop said, “Anna has picked the right cause of anti-corruption to champion. People feel
intensely about this. He has got people behind him, which is very important.”

Pointing to the successful watershed development work carried out by Hazare in his village of Ralegan Siddhi, the Bishop said, “Anna is a man of integrity. He has done very good, ground-level work in his village and across Maharashtra. I, therefore, support him.”

The Bishop, however, refrained from commenting on the nitty-gritty of the Lokpal Bill and the manner in which the campaign was being conducted by Team Anna.
