The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday arrested three persons, including the main suspect, in the bogus urban land ceiling (ULC) order scam, in connection with one such order regarding a 4,100-square-metre plot in Wakad.

A case was registered with the Swargate police station on January 21 this year for criminal conspiracy, cheating, forging documents and destroying evidence under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

The complaint was filed by local tehsildar, Vivek Pralhad Salunke, who works at the Pune urban agglomeration office.

The arrested suspects have been identified as land developer and power of attorney holder Sharad Subrao Kokate, estate agent Sujay Surendra Chopde and main suspect in the case, Atul Ramchandra Panse.

After being produced before the court of judicial magistrate (first class) Umeshchandra More, they were remanded in police custody till October 21.

Woman held for cheatingThe Bund Garden police arrested a 62-year-old woman of Koregaon Park, Vidya Sampat Salunke,  in connection with cheating and forging of documents of a plot of land. Amrit Sham Mirpuri, a real estate agent from Mumbai, filed the complaint, claiming that he purchased  land in Urse village in Maval taluka from Salunke and paid Rs35 lakh for it.

After the payment for 11 acres and 20 gunthas was made in May 2008, Salunke allegedly forged an agreement to sell the property  and forged the signature of the complainant while he was in London.

Youth arrested for obscenityThe Vishrambaug police have arrested Ashfaq Shaikh (19) for allegedly flinging obscene pictures in a house occupied by college girls in Shaniwar Peth on Saturday. Shaikh of Mangalwar Peth posed as a cable operator and told the owner of the house that he had been sent for repairs. Once inside, he flung pictures into a room girls were studying. They are paying guests.
