Two persons have been nabbed for selling stolen booty from three and five star hotels in major cities.

MUMBAI: Two persons have been nabbed for selling stolen booty from three and five star hotels in major cities.

Jayesh Raoji Tejpal (34) and Ramesh Chagh (53) were arrested on Friday from Manish Market where they had gone to sell the stolen valuables, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhananjay Kamlakar said on Saturday.

He told mediapersons that the duo used to book a room in three and five star hotels for a day or two. During their stay there, they would make duplicate keys of the rooms of the customers staying there. They would then turn up after three or four days and steal valuables and currency of customers using duplicate keys, he said.

The duo had been stealing booty since 1995 and has struck hotels in Chennai, Kolkata, Agra, New Delhi, Bangalore, Goa and Mumbai.

Recently, they had robbed hotels in Kolkata and Agra. They were here to sell the stolen goods when the sleuths nabbed them.

The duo was produced before a metropolitan magistrate today who remanded them to police custody till March 23.

The Agra police have already arrived in the city to take their custody, Mr Kamlakar added.
