When MMRDA officials were asked about the banners, which prominently showed the company’s name, one of the officials admitted the ‘private firm’s name is bigger than ours’.

Tainted infrastructure firm J Kumar Infraprojects gave itself a pat on the back when it displayed its name more prominently that that of the MMRDA or Mumbai Metro.  At the launch of the first U Girder in the wee hours of Wednesday, the words J Kumar Infraprojects was more prominently displayed than that of the MMRDA or Mumbai Metro.  CM Devendra Fadnavis had attended the event.

When senior MMRDA officials were asked about the banners, which prominently showed the company’s name, one of the officials admitted the ‘private firm’s name is bigger than ours’.

Meanwhile, J Kumar Infraproject’s Executive Director Kamal Gupta insisted that it was their right to give prominene. Gupta said: “These are my cranes and machines on which I am putting the banners. I am not even charging MMRDA for the event conducted, so I can put my name, that’s it, nothing more.”

This isn’t the first instance the BMC blacklisted J. Kumar Infraprojects adopted such a tactic. Earlier, even after having completed construction of Milan Subway Rail Over Bridge, the firm had prominently displayed its name, which after objection had to be removed.

Ironically, even after a few years since the inauguration the brand has its name on the Dahisar Rail Over Bridge, another MMRDA project.
