The Chembur-based businessman whose WiFi system was hacked into for sending one of the terror emails is now a relieved man.
MK Kamath told DNA, “I am glad the accused have been nabbed.” However, says Kamath, one thing will always play on his mind: “Why did I not secure the WiFi system?”
Kamath recalled that on September 13, a Saturday, his office staff left at 6.30 pm, followed by him and his wife around 7.45 pm. “Around 10 pm the police reached my residence and said they wanted to check my office computers,” Kamath said. He added, “Many friends and relatives started calling us when they came to know about the news through media.” Such was the impact that Kamath’s elder brother who stays in Dubai did not call him for two days because he though it may put Kamath into further trouble if he got a call from Dubai.
Kamath said, “When I got the WiFi connection at my office two years back I never knew about the security issue, it is only after this traumatic incident that I came to know that there are passwords to keep the network secure,”
After the incident, Kamath was invited at a function organised by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS). It was a seminar to create awareness regarding the use and misuse of WiFi.
