On Monday afternoon, a 1,800mm water pipeline burst around 2.40 pm at Tansa (W) near Dhamangaon.

According to the locals, some of the farmers protested against the repairing work asking the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to pay them compensation before going ahead with the repairs. But civic officials appeared to be unaware of the protest and denied it.

“We haven’t got information about any such incident. After we got to know if the pipeline burst, we immediately arranged for staff and carried out the repair work. There will not be any water cuts in city on Tuesday,” said a civic official.
