The Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) Group of Schools is one of the well-known institutions in Navi Mumbai.
The DAV students have regularly graced the merit list in the past few years. DAV schools are present in Nerul, Kharghar, Airoli, and Panvel. Dr KB Kushal, regional director of DAV institutions, spoke to Priya Ramakrishnan on the satellite cities’ success in ICSE, CBSE and SSC examinations:
“New Bombay is in the limelight because of its schools’ good performance in the board exams. There are two reasons for the shift when it comes to churning out toppers. There are more ICSE and CBSE schools offering quality education here than earlier. With more schools opting to expand till Std XII, students prefer to continue in the same school rather than head to well-known schools in Mumbai. There are very few instances of students shifting from our schools after class X.
“Another reason for the swing is the growing presence of coaching classes and technical institutions in the area. Earlier, students did not have a choice and took up college and coaching in Mumbai. But with existence of well-known classes, students save up on travelling time and opt for local classes and colleges. Institutes which have come up recently are also offering better facilities and resources to the students. The atmosphere here is congenial and encourages students to perform better.”
