Abhinav Bharat (AB), a little known self-styled group says it will fight "injustice" against Hindus.

PUNE: Abhinav Bharat (AB), a little known self-styled group, that has hit the headlines following arrests of two of its activists including an ex-army major, for alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts, says it will fight "injustice" against Hindus.

"We do not support any kind of terrorism. But at the same time we want to make it clear that Hindus will not tolerate atrocities committed on them. If such anti-Hindu acts take place, a reaction is only to be expected," Himani Savarkar, President of AB said on Thursday.

On the arrests of Samir Kulkarni , AB activist in Bhopal and Pune based ex-army Major Ramesh Upadhya by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in connection with the September blasts, she said.

"There is an attempt to frame the pro-Hindutva elements in such acts. There is no evidence against these two AB activists. Nothing has  been proved".

Asked about the formation of AB, Himani, daughter of Gopal Godse and niece of Nathuram Godse, said "We decided to revive the organisation that was originally formed by Swatantryaveer V D Savarkar a century ago to fight the British rule".

A group of like-minded pro-Hindutva elements felt the need to do so against the backdrop of the "anti-Hindu" acts witnessed in the last decade. In its present form, the AB has no formal establishment as such and those who subscribe to the ideology through networking. It came into being in 2006.

Himani said Savarkar had dissolved AB in 1952 thinking that its objectives had been achieved in a free India with the exit of the British.

Married to Savarkar's nephew, Himani decried the tendency to "crush" Hindus on the slightest pretext and wondered why an eloquent silence is maintained over the Islamic terrorism that is being practiced in India in such a brazen manner.

Kulkarni and Upadhyay have been remanded to police custody till November 10 by a Nashik court. It has also granted permission to ATS to conduct a narco and polygraph test on Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, arrested for alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts that killed six Muslims.
