Western railway provides 115 wheelchairs

Four each of these foldable wheelchairs have been kept at Churchgate, Bandra Terminus, Andheri and Borivli while two are at Dadar, Virar, Bhayander and Vasai Road.

In order to provide comfort to the handicapped or sick persons, Western Railway has provided 115 comfortable wheelchairs at 77 suburban and non-suburban stations in its Mumbai division.

Four each of these foldable wheelchairs have been kept at Churchgate, Bandra Terminus, Andheri and Borivli while two are at Dadar, Virar, Bhayander and Vasai Road.

The same have been provided at all the other suburban stations up to Virar besides major stations between Vaitarna to Surat, Amalner to Nandurbar and Billimora to Waghai.
Procured at a cost of Rs8.16 lakh, these wheelchairs have been designed to provide comfort to the handicapped as well as the sick.

The front and rear rubber wheels of the new wheelchairs help it to move smoothly and the height of the seats from the ground level has been adjusted so as to make the pulling of the wheelchair easier.
