Farahnaaz Khan shows the WhatsApp video through which her husband gave her oral instant triple talaq despite the SC order

The video stated that her husband, a resident of Virar, was giving her an oral instant triple talaq due to disputes between them and his disinterest in her.

A WhatsApp video from her husband on November 11, 2017, shocked Mira Road resident Farahnaaz Khan. The video stated that her husband, a resident of Virar, was giving her an oral instant triple talaq due to disputes between them and his disinterest in her.

While Khan has been fighting a legal domestic violence case against her husband and his family since November 8 last year, his physical abuse on her after the court hearing of domestic violence case on April 21, provoked her to openly talk about the oral instant talaq given to her after Supreme Court's verdict.

32-year-old Farahnaaz, who is a graduate and a housewife, said, "Even when SC has given a verdict stating that instant triple talaq should not be practice, I was given instant talaq through a video just because I filed a domestic violence complaint against my husband. I was married in May 2012 to my elder uncle's son. On April 21, during the hearing of our domestic violence case in Sessions Court, I showed the instant triple talaq WhatsApp video to the judge. After the hearing, outside the courtroom, he physically abused me and my father for showing the video. While we went to file a complain, only NC was filed in Nayanagar police station."

According to Farahnaaz, she has now decided to fight the matter and approach a Higher court to file contempt of Supreme Court's order.

She said, "The SC's order is going to help me to fight my case. I want justice as an Indian woman and not as one particular community's woman. He should be punished if he is found to be guilty in the case."

Yawar Khan, Farahnaaz's husband, stated that it is a false case and he does not want to comment on it.

Nasir Khan, Farahnaaz's uncle, said, "We tried to settle the issue in the house. The main reason given by her husband is dispute and disinterest in her. Her husband got engaged to another girl in February."

Speaking about the domestic violence against her, she added, "Three days after my marriage, they harassed me for dowry. They wanted me to give away my ornament so that my husband could start a business. While in May 2016, I took five lakh rupees loan by giving my ornaments, so that he can run a chicken shop."
