Gondwana University vice-chancellor Vijay Ainchwar has accused the state government of ignoring the plight of the university and stalling funds.

"The government has not released the non salary grant since the opening of the university in October 2011. At least Rs1 crore is expected for these expenses, provision for which has already been made in the state budget. The Higher and Technical Education department was repeatedly approached by us for the same without success", he said.

Ainchwar was talking to reporters last evening.

He said the university staff has been facing hardship over non-receipt of salary.

"Salary of 104 university officials, to the tune of Rs2.14 crore from November last is overdue. We have requested the government several times to release the salary but it has yielded no results", he alleged.

The vice-chancellor lamented that university students are getting affected as the state has not filled the vacancies of requisite teaching and non-teaching staff.
