by five men who punched her several times after she got in to an argument with an area contractor for speeding up the recovery of her house.

According to her relatives, Khan was desperate to speed up the reconstruction of her home, which was gutted by a fire, and used to pester the authorities, including one Illiyas, the contractor. Police said that Khan and Illiyas got into arguments constantly over the progress of the project.

On Monday evening, the argument spiralled into a brawl and a group of five men allegedly assaulted Khan and rained punches on her. She was rushed to VN Desai hospital but eventually succumbed to her injuries.

Based on the allegations of the family members, who accused the group of men for killing Khan, the Nirmal Nagar police station have registered a case and arrested two people.

The police arrested Ismail Ali Mohammed Chowdhary, 35 and Khalid Chowdhary, 38 on Tuesday and produced them in a Bandra metropolitan magistrate court. The court remanded the duo to police custody till September 8.

Meanwhile, the police are awaiting Khan's post mortem reports to ascertain the exact cause of death. Further investigations are on, police added.
