A 28-year-old woman conductor of a State Transport (ST) bus was molested at Dombivali on today. The incident occurred near Dombivali Nagrik Sahakari Bank (DNS) at around 8 am on the Kalyan Shil road when the bus was heading towards Dombivali railway station.

A passenger abused and tore the victim's dress and later tried to hit her. But the locals and other passengers caught him and handed him over to the police station. The accused Arvind Singh, 30 is a resident of New Mumbai (Kalamboli).

According to the police, the ST bus was heading towards Dombivli railway station, which was the last stop of the bus. Arvind Singh was running behind the bus and tried to enter the bus from the front gate, to which the bus driver stopped the bus and asked him to get in from back door. This led to a heated argument between them, and Arvind started abusing the driver. When he came to the back door, the woman conductor who was there asked him not to abuse the driver. This further infuriated him and he then started to abuse the woman conductor. He then manhandled her and tore her clothes.

At this time, the passengers rushed to her rescue and caught Arvind and beat him up. They then took him over to Manpada police station. The police have registered a molestation case against the accused and have produced him in court today. The police have also taken details about the incident from the victim and accused as well.

Senior Police Inspector Milind Patil from Manpada police station said, “We have arrested the accused immediately and that he is also produced in court. The accused is of New Mumbai and over further probe is on.”
