A 29-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man near Bhayandar railway station in the district, police said on Sunday. At least two people were involved in the crime that occurred on May 30, said sub-inspector Aparna Whatkar of Navghar police station.

Police said that the woman had named one, Deepak (full name not known) and another unidentified man in her complaint. Police said the unidentified person put revolver to her head while Deepak allegedly raped her. The incident occurred at a place opposite an ATM near the railway station, at around 2 pm. However, police did not elaborate on whether the duo were known to the woman or they had waylaid her.

A search is on for the duo against whom a case is registered under various sections of IPC including rape and also under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
