Seven out of 13 chairpersonships of panchayat samitis in Pune district have been reserved for women.

Seven out of 13 chairpersonships of panchayat samitis in Pune district have been reserved for women.

This was decided during the reservation lottery held in Pune on Monday morning under the chairmanship of additional district collector Ganesh Patil.

The chairpersonship of Mulshi panchayat samiti has been reserved for a woman candidate from the scheduled caste, while that of Velhe has been reserved for a woman candidate from the scheduled tribe.

The chairpersonships of both Baramati and Daund panchayat samitis are reserved for women candidates from backward categories while those of Purandar (A), Khed and Shirur are reserved for women candidates from open category.

Panchayat samitis of Maval, Bhor, Haveli, and Ambegaon are for open category while those of Junnar and Purandar (B) have been reserved for candidates of backward category.
